【特別講演会へのご招待】
5月15日(水)アメリカ大使館主催で「Cybersecurityと外交」の特別オンライン講演を行います。
ゲストには、アメリカ国務省の情報セキュリティ部門の高官2名を招き、米国政府内のサイバーセキュリティ事情や外交における最新の情報セキュリティについてお話します。
また、この分野でのキャリア形成についても参加学生とお話したいと考えています。
国務省におけるサイバーセキュリティの分野で働く人達に直接質問ができるチャンスです。ぜひご参加ください!

We are pleased to announce a hybrid event for your students. On the afternoon of Wednesday, May 15, senior officials from the State Department's Information Security Division will visit Japan to give a special lecture at the U.S. Embassy followed by a Q&A session, so this will be a great opportunity to ask questions directly to the speakers!
The two speakers below would speak to Cybersecurity topics (i.e.
Cybersecurity in U.S. government) and following the event we could build in time for U.S. students who would like to talk about career opportunities with the State Department.

Donna S. Bennett – E-CISO
Donna S. Bennett - United States Department of State is the Enterprise Chief Information Security Officer (E-CISO) for the U.S. Department of State. In this role, she provides expert policy, technical, program, and department-wide oversight support to the Department of State on all cybersecurity matters. Recent accomplishments include continued significant advancements through developing an enterprise cyber strategy, creating a cross-bureau governance body, overhauling cyber policy, launching a Zero Trust architecture, and more. As the E-CISO, she also directs and reports agency-wide compliance with current and emergent Federal cybersecurity mandates to Department leadership, OMB, and Congress. As a security industry veteran, Ms. Bennett has over 25 combined years of public service with numerous federal agencies, including distinguished active-duty service in the United States Navy. She is the former Deputy Chief Information Security Officer (DCISO) at the U.S. Department of Commerce and Chief Information Security Officer at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Within those respective roles, she led cybersecurity initiatives focused on managing high-valued cybersecurity assets, skillfully leading numerous organizations, and high-visibility cybersecurity initiatives to include stemmed National Security Systems. Before 2014, Ms. Bennett served in various cyber security leadership positions throughout the Department of Defense, including the Department of Navy.
*Meredith Strong Hiemstra* is a career Foreign Service Diplomatic Technology Officer with the U.S. Department of State. She is currently serving as the Acting Director of the Strategy, Performance, and Budget Office in the Bureau of Diplomatic Technology (DT). Meredith previously served as the Information Management Officer for the U.S. Embassy in Panama, Albania, and Timor-Leste, and her onward assignment is as the DT Chief for the U.S. Missions to the European Union, NATO, and the Kingdom of Belgium. From 2018-2020, Meredith was the Regional IMO for the East Asian and Pacific (EAP) Affairs Bureau in Washington D.C. Her first three tours were in Belgium, Iraq, and Haiti. Prior to joining the Foreign Service in 2003, Meredith was a Captain in the U.S. Army Signal Corps for five years in South Korea and Germany. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Math from Davidson College and a master’s in government information leadership from the National Defense University. She was national female mountain biking champion in two countries: Albania and Timor-Leste. Meredith is a native of Richmond, Virginia and Worcestershire, England.
